Patterson Lake South (PLS) Project
In December 2024, Paladin acquired Fission Uranium Corp.
The combination of Paladin and Fission creates a diverse uranium producer operating in multiple countries, with a high quality portfolio of production, development and exploration assets.
Fission will remain as the business entity, however the company’s activities will slowly transition to be carried out under the operating name of Paladin Canada.
Find out more about Paladin.

Located in the Athabasca Basin in Saskatchewan – a premier uranium province.
Our PLS project hosts the Triple R deposit – one of the region’s largest high-grade, near-surface uranium deposit. PLS is an advanced, development stage project – with a low-risk mine plan featuring a proposed high-grade uranium mine and mill. It is one of the few projects globally advanced enough to enter production this cycle.
The 2023 PLS Feasibility Study [1] highlighted the potential for a 10-year mine life with annual production of 9.1Mlb p.a. U3O8. As part of its integration process, Paladin intends to conduct a full review of the PLS feasibility study (including Fission’s previously estimated capital and operating costs), with the aim of identifying areas for further optimisation and de-risking the development of the project.
[1] Refer the technical report titled “Feasibility Study, NI 43-101 Technical Report, for PLS Property” with an effective date of 17 January 2023 which was prepared in accordance with NI 43-101 and is available on Fission’s profile on SEDAR+ at www.sedarplus.ca. The Basin’s only shallow, high-grade, undeveloped project

Fission’s Triple R deposit starts 50 metres from surface and sits entirely within basement rock.
Hard rock setting
Hosted in basement rock; avoids the costly water issues faced by Cigar Lake and other eastern Athabasca unconformity mines
High efficiency
Shallow, plunging ore body allows decline ramp access – less costly, more efficient than production shafts used by deep mines
Superb metallurgy
High ore purity supports fast, efficient processing, and high-quality end product
High productivity
Mine design and shallow depth means potential for very high tonnes-per-vertical-metre
Access
Mine site is just 2 km from all-season Highway 955
Unique development and production advantages
Designed for sustainable mining
Surface Tailings
1,000 TPD processing facility and surface Tailings Management Facility designed for high efficiency, small footprint, reliable and easy to manage.
Low Impact
Close proximity to highway means little on site road construction; low impact on fauna and flora
Clean Ore
In contrast to most Athabasca Basin deposits, mineralization at PLS has extremely low levels of contaminants
Waste Rock Return
Ramp access & long-haul open stoping means waste rock can be returned underground

Environment
Paladin’s approach to environmental management is set out here, with further detail in our Sustainability Report.
Local knowledge experts are already involved with ongoing environmental monitoring at the PLS project. We also employ local contractors and individuals in a variety of roles, as well as provide direct funding for locally run educational and social initiatives.
The PLS project incorporates environmental stewardship through design to ensure the environment remains protected for future generations. All environmental effects are evaluated and mitigation measures incorporated through application of the as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) principle.
Performance will be periodically assessed against environmental targets to inform continual improvement initiatives. Paladin remains committed to compliance with all regulatory requirements while advancing safe and responsible resource development for the benefit of our stakeholders.
Community
The project has long standing ties with the local communities and maintains a proactive stance regarding responsible development, including community support, as well as engagement of rights holders and stakeholders. This includes First Nations and Metis, Tribal councils, local communities, municipalities, governments, and regulatory agencies.
We have signed Mutual Benefits Agreements with Clearwater River Dene Nation (CRDN) and Buffalo River Dene Nation (BRDN). These Agreements cover how we will work together throughout the life of this important regional project, from development to decommissioning and reclamation.
We are committed to working with communities and supporting local northern business in the region to maximise the training, employment, and economic opportunities for the local people. In doing so, we will continue to build mutually respectful, beneficial, and long-lasting economic relationships with stakeholders/rights holders in the region.
Already, local businesses and individual members of the local community provide a range of services to the PLS project, including camp management, catering, logistics, security, vehicle and equipment rental, technicians and others.
